Who We Are

A Studio Built for Patience, Detail, and Care

A FINE LINE CUSTOM TATTOO STUDIO, LLC operates on a simple belief: the most compelling tattoos are thoughtful collaborations. We book fewer sessions each day so our artists can draw, explain, and iterate without a stopwatch running in the background.

Every appointment begins with a sterile setup documented on a printed checklist. Needles, tubes, grip covers, and razors are single-use. Surfaces are wrapped and disinfected between clients; instruments for non-disposable tasks are ultrasonically cleaned then packaged and autoclaved.

Design time is part of the appointment: we trace anatomy, test scale on skin, and ensure the composition will age gracefully in the real world (not just on paper). We note sun exposure, movement, and skin texture before recommending line weight and spacing.

Aftercare is individualized. You’ll leave with a printed card and a QR code leading to your artist’s aftercare plan, product recommendations available locally in Billings, and a week-by-week photo guideline for proper healing.

The result is a tattoo that reads clearly today and a decade from now—delivered in an environment that treats your time, skin, and safety with the same respect as the art.

“Clean linework is a promise: steady hand, proper needle depth, and zero rush.”

What We Ink

Signature Styles & Studio Work

Three core offerings with clear expectations, pricing logic, and healing guidance.
Single-Needle • Fine Line

Minimal & Architectural Linework

For names, micro-symbols, and delicate motifs that rely on precision more than fill. We measure spacing carefully to preserve legibility as the skin softens with time. Artists use stabilized machines and slow passes.

Placement tests are done with multiple stencil sizes; we choose the size that will read well at conversation distance. Aftercare emphasizes gentle wash, breathable cover, and avoiding movement stress for 48 hours.

Estimates are transparent: we price by projected needle time plus design, not by the square inch. Touch-ups within 8 weeks are complimentary for this category.

Blackwork • Negative Space

Graphic Fields with Crisp Edges

Bold solids, ornamental bands, and geometric builds where saturation matters. We layer ink in controlled passes to avoid blowout, and we map stretch directions to keep lines straight during movement.

Sessions run in 2–3 hour blocks with breaks to assess saturation and swelling. We photograph under polarized light to check for holidays and even fill before bandaging.

For bigger work we plan session routes that limit trauma per area. Healing includes fragrance-free emollients and sun discipline for the first four weeks.

Illustrative • Botanical

Sketch-Born Imagery with Skin in Mind

Custom florals, fauna, and narrative pieces built from pencil studies. We use taper groupings to sculpt line weight and build gentle stipple shading that settles smooth.

Reference is sourced ethically; we redraw and simplify to ensure the piece reads from five feet away. Color is available, but we tend to use restrained palettes that heal clean in Montana’s dry climate.

Expect one collaborative sketch round before the appointment and a quick transfer review on the day of.

What Sets Our Studio Apart

Three practical advantages you’ll notice from the first consult.

Artist-Led Planning

Your artist handles the consult, drawing, and tattoo. No front-desk hand-offs. This preserves intent and ensures line weight, anatomy, and placement are discussed with the person who will actually ink you.

Sterile Workflows

We use hospital-grade disinfectants, single-use consumables, and documented autoclave cycles. Instruments are tracked by lot and cycle numbers. You’ll see the sterile pouches opened in front of you.

Clarity That Lasts

We test size and spacing to avoid future blurring. Fine line doesn’t mean faint—our lines are mapped to your skin so they heal legible, not wispy.

How We Work

Three Steps from Idea to Healed

Clear milestones keep the day predictable and calm.

01 — Consult & Sketch

Share reference, meaning, and placement. We sketch on paper and on skin to find size, orientation, and line weights that will heal clean. A budget and session length are agreed before booking.

02 — Prep & Tattoo

Sterile setup, stencil transfer, and final adjustments. We work slow, communicate needle changes, and check saturation under polarized light before bandaging.

03 — Aftercare & Check-In

You get a printed aftercare card and a QR code to your artist’s plan. We check photos at days 3, 7, and 21. Complimentary touch-ups within eight weeks for qualifying pieces.
